Mansfield Park was the third of Jane Austen’s novels to be published. She began writing it sometime about February 1811 and finished it soon after June 1813 (according to a memorandum by her sister Cassandra). Then, in May 1814, it was published by Thomas Egerton, who had previously published Sense and Sensibility and Pride and Prejudice. A second edition was published in 1816 by John Murray, also the publisher of Jane Austen’s Emma. Now, in 2014, the two hundredth anniversary of Mansfield Park’s first publication is being celebrated!
